Looking for a good compact submachine-gun but don’t want the typical MP5?
Need something to match your M4? What you need is a PDI Patriot.
The Patriot is assembled from a conversion kit for the M4/M16. It is
extremely high quality, everything in the kit is made of Duralmin, a hard
aluminum based alloy. The components are milled and not cast, which means no
bubbles, flash, or molding seams. Also because it’s milled the measurements are
always correct and the parts always fit.
Patriot kits come in 4 styles. Each has an assortment of hand guard styles.
Patriot-1 and Patriot-3 use MP5 sized barrels (229mm). The difference between
the two is Patriot 1 has a one piece muzzle and gas block, where as the Patriot
3 has a threaded muzzle separate from the gas block.

Patriot-2 has a shorter hand guard than 1 and 3, and
also features a threaded muzzle. This uses a 187mm barrel, slightly
shorter than a G3 SAS.
Patriot 4 is the shortest and has no muzzle at all. It comes with a
threaded adaptor if you wanted to put a muzzle or silencer. This kit
uses a 141mm barrel, same as the MP5PDW. |

If you wanted to you could cut the stock barrel to fit the patriot kits. I
strongly recommend using PDI 6.05 barrels. The 6.05 barrel gives the best range
of any smooth bore barrel. Accuracy is excellent, even for it’s short length.
And best of all, they’re made in the sizes you need so you just drop them in and
you’re ready to go.
Assembly is very easy on the patriot kits. The shortened outer barrel is one
piece with a 8.6mm inner diameter. This holds the inner barrel perfectly, there
are no gaps or wobble with the inner barrel. When used with a PDI 6.05 barrel
the patriots give amazing accuracy for their size.

The barrel assembly is held in by a retaining ring that threads onto the M4
body. Because the whole front assembly is very light you can use these kits on
plastic M4 and M16 bodies. They will fit onto metal bodies if you really wanted
a rock solid little gun.

The front cap holds the fore grip tube in place. This is
done with set screws. The muzzle is also held in with set screws. With
this type of attachment you could easily adjust the fit if the fore grip
needs to be straightened. Also you can install the whole front in less
than 10 minutes. |
| The rear needs some modifications. First you need to cut
the body where the stock tube attaches. Leaving just a little less than
an inch the end cap is attached and the new stock tube will be used to
hold the battery. Because there is no room for a fuse I recommend
keeping the gun at low velocities (320 or less). You could fit up to a
9.6v 1100mah battery in the tube, but I recommend just using mini
batteries. |

The best thing about having a Patriot? All your M4 and M16 parts will fit.
This means you can easily re-fit your patriot for ready-mags, PEQ’s, different
grips, stocks, scopes, etc. I highly recommend the Patriot Kits by PDI. |
