Introduction
In 2005 PDI released the "05 Inner Barrel For Marui Sig Sauer P226" a 6.05mm
stainless steel inner barrel for the TM SIG P226 sold under the X-Fire branding. Installing the barrel is easy
enough. Basically you take the slide off, take the barrel out, remove the inner barrel & hop-up from the
outer barrel, unscrew the 2 screws on the left side of the hop-up unit, pull the left side of the hop-up unit
off, remove the OEM barrel and swap the hop-up bucking on to the new barrel. Installation is the
reverse of the removal.

Test Stats
- Temp: 74' F
- Range: ~11m
- Gun: Tokyo Marui SIG P226 GBB
- Gas Type: Green Gas 265 fps
- BB Type: Excel .20g
Testing
The test barrel was installed in an otherwise stock TM SIG P226
that had seen a bit of action, but was in pretty good condition. The test was set up at a roughly 11m range shooting
at a 14cm square target (similar to the ARMS target used in
the original SIG
P226 review.) The
shooting was done in the sitting supported position, without a vice. The test was originally attempted with HFC 134a
gas but the velocity was lower than normal, so green gas was used. (Click on the target thumbnails for the full
size picture.)

Conclusion
In respect to accuracy, the PDI 05 Inner Barrel is slightly better with the exception of shooting a bit to the right. (Corrected
with a bit of "Kentucky Windage" on the 3rd target.) In respect to precision, the PDI
05 does a better job of
keeping the shot groupings together. Considering the short length of a pistol barrel (relative to an AEG barrel)
it stands to reason that adding a tightbore barrel wouldn't make a huge difference, which is the case with this barrel. In
a bit of informal testing the target was a 8x5 inch sign at a range of about 30m. With both barrels the shots were
falling short of the target. With a bit of adjustment, hitting the sign was still tough. Perhaps with an upgraded gun
the PDI 05 would have more effect.
Final Word:
The PDI 05 Inner Barrel for the TM SIG P226 is an improvement over the stock barrel.
