Overview:
A new Tactical Illumination System by RICO Technology, the Alpha-9 is patterned after a popular lighting system found on many tactical weapon set-ups.
Made from Aluminum, it is very lightweight and features a Picatinny Rail attachment system. The lamp unit is powered by 3 CR123A cells, which power the main bulb housing for target illumination, and 2 smaller LEDs for navigation. The main lamp produces 250 lumens output, which is VERY bright and will blind someone temporarily in low light situations. It is a nice even white light, free from the rings and dark spots common with other tactical lights. This shows the high quality construction and design of this light. The LEDs provide decent output for moving around pitch-black areas. LEDs also use very little power and can be used when the batteries are almost dead.
The Alpha-9 is a vertical grip style light with the main light housing topped with a “Strike Front” attachment. Located behind this and above the main bulb housing are 2 separate LED housings on both the left and right sides of the body. A main ON/OFF dial is located in the center of the light unit. Turning to the right will activate the main bulb on a constant burn. Turning to the left will activate 2 pressure switches located on the vertical grip (left & right). The Navigation lights are activated by a separate pressure switch located to the rear of the entire unit, easily accessed by a person’s thumb.
Solid, milled Aluminum parts and o-ring seals to both the bulb housing and battery compartment make this light both shock and water resistant. Finishing on the entire unit is in dark gunmetal with black rubber grips for a positive grip even in harsh conditions.

Capabilities:
The Alpha-9 will attach to the Rail System found on many of today’s rifles and sub-machine guns. Installation is both fast and secure. The pressure switches are positive and activate with just a little pressure. Light output is very comparable with the popular Surefire lighting systems, but this unit costs much less than the actual name brand systems. In comparison, Laylax has a similar model; the Nitro Vo V-900 for about the same retail price. However, it lacks the working navigation LEDs and the main bulb output is nowhere near the same performance. For the price, the Alpha-9 is definitely the best choice. The perfect tool for night gaming. As well as very cool and stylish, and very functional choice for the CQB arena guns. The RICO Alpha-9 would be a welcome addition to any tactical airsoft setup or even a real steel application.
