Not all airsoft bb’s are the same. Many people think the 0.20g’s are the good bb’s, or “the white ones are good.” Many people don’t realize not all bb’s are the same. Players should not just consider different weights, but different brands also. BB’s are like soda. You can classify them by flavors, like cola, but that doesn’t mean Pepsi, Coke, RC, and Safeway Select are all the same.

Excel 0.20g
First Impression: Very nice, Smooth and shiny. Slightly slippery feel, should feed well.
Result: Feeds well in full auto. Good range and accuracy. Very good all around bb.
Notes: This is what Airsoft Hawaii uses as the standard to chronograph guns at all games, so this will also be used as the standard in bb comparisons.

Excel 0.20g Biodegradable
First Impression: Round, pretty smooth. Looks pretty good.
Results: Shoots pretty much the same as regular Excel. Good bb.
Notes: Although it says Biodgradable these bb’s are very stable in storage and will take a very long time in sunlight and moisture to break down. Excel says it should take 3 years.

Excel 0.20g Biodegradable Black
First Impression: Very ugly, looks like has seams. Very slippery. Afraid to use in my gun.
Results: Shoots excellent. No feeding or jamming problems, feeds better than any other BB in fast full-auto guns. Hard to see but better accuracy than regular Excel 0.20g.
Notes: These bb’s actually have a clear coating over the black core. The seam is on the black inner section under the smooth clear exterior. Black color makes it very hard for others to see them coming. Lots of surprised players getting shot.

Tokyo Marui 0.20g
First Impression: Slight texture, not as smooth as Excel, may have feeding problems.
Results: Shoots good. There were some skips when shooting full auto on excessively fast guns (over 20 shots per second) but shot great in guns with normal ROF. Accuracy is same as Excel.
Notes: These are good bb’s. Not the best but no problems with them.
|
Tokyo Marui 0.20g Tactical Grade
First Impression: Very smooth and slippery. Looks like a very good bb. Smoother than Excel.
Results: Excellent bb. Feeds well. Accuracy is good, about the same as Excel 0.20g.
Notes: Slightly less per bag than Excel 0.20g, otherwise pretty much equal to Excel 0.20g.

KSC 0.20g
First Impression: Not all round, can see seams and pits in the bb’s. May jam or cause problems.
Results: Bad bb’s. Jams in guns and causes damage to mechboxes, hop-up units, and magazines . Chronograph shows velocity lower than Excel 0.20g. All shots going to the side (depends on the gun, always shoots left or always to the right).
Notes: This bb is only good in mosquito molds grenades and guns you don‘t care about.

Guarder/Intruder Shop 0.20g
First Impression: Nice slippery bb’s. Innovative packaging. Looks like something to eat rather than shoot.
Results: Great accuracy. Very good bb’s. Feeds very well.
Notes: I like the bottle it comes in. It’s a smaller amount than the normal bag of bb’s but it fits into magazine pouches and vests easy.
|
Industrial Airsoft Systems 0.20g Tracer ammo
First Impression: I like the black and white mix. I also like the easy to use bottle it came in.
Results: Shoots good. Feeds ok. Same range as Excel but slight less accuracy. Can still hit the opponents, but just can’t aim for specific body parts.
Notes: These are the original black bb’s. Really fun to shoot. Black bb’s can’t be seen but the whites mixed in act like tracers so I can see where my stream of bb’s go. Very innovative.

Maruzen 0.20g
First Impression: Looks rough, very round but rough.
Results: Shoots straight and rough texture really grabs the hop-up. Some feeding problems on really high speed guns. Shoots great on semi.
Notes: Good bb for players who take time and aim. Not good for people who spray bb’s like a hose.
|
UHC 0.20g
First Impression: Big bag. Seams and pits visible. Some odd shapes in the bag (mushroom, football, raisin, etc). Afraid of an odd shape slipping past me and jamming the gun.
Results: Jams a lot. Bad accuracy. Bad bb’s.
Notes: First sift out all the odd shapes and put the round ones in a different bag. Then throw away both bags and buy better bb’s.
|
Stealth 0.20g
First Impression: Pits and seams visible, but no odd shapes.
Results: Bad accuracy. Not as bad as others, but still pretty bad compared to Excel.
Notes: Didn’t jam as much as others but still performs poorly. May work ok in semi-auto low velocity gas pistols (like KWA, KWC and KJ guns).
|
Unknown Chinese brand bb’s with the blue/purple label
First Impression: Looks like leftovers from the KSC factory. Ugly bb’s.
Results: Jams more than any other bb. Velocity 15-20 lower than Excel 0.20’s. Horrible performance. Causes severe damage if jammed (piston strips, gears strip, bushings break, usually more than one problem at a time).
Notes: These were the worst bb’s out of all the 0.20g bb’s tested. Don’t even accept these if someone gives them to you for free. You’ll break something in your gun, guarantee.
