Okay—you’re wondering why you might want to go play Airsoft in a place like Ultrazone. It’s a laser tag arena, after all, and not really made for Airsoft, right? Wrong.
Ultrazone was made for laser tag, but that sort of layout works great for Airsoft, too. The playing area is literally a maze. There are plenty of places to lurk in and ambush from. There are also plenty of ways to move around the other team and outflank them. You can even go with a good ol’ frontal charge, if you want.
The lighting is also variable. Some games can be played with the regular lights on (which still leaves plenty of shadows to hide in and/or sneak through). Other games can be played with just the blacklights on, which makes things look really cool. On top of this, they have a smoke machine, which makes it even more interesting when it’s used. You should see what a laser sight looks like in that smoke, not to mention seeing players disappear into and emerge from it as they hunt each other.
Ultrazone is also a great place to bring all your less powerful guns. (The velocity limit is just 300 fps with 0.2 gram bbs, after all.) Range is not a problem, since the playing area is broken up by the maze layout. You’d be amazed at how well a seemingly wimpy little spring pistol can do in there, and minis are positively hellacious.
They’ve also got a snack bar right there, so you don’t have to worry about bringing drinks and such. Also, being indoors, rain is not a problem.
To top it all off—it’s air-conditioned! No roasting in hot weather, and far less fogging of lenses.
I could keep going on and on about it, but it’s nothing like playing there yourself. Go give it a try!
